Mike Milligan and Steffen Peddie to headline second North East People's Assembly show.

A North-East anti-austerity campaign group has announced details of its second annual convention, featuring headline spots from two Geordie comedians.

Returning to the Northern Stage in Newcastle on the 1 November, the all-day anti-austerity convention boasts a headline-grabbing line-up of comedians, speakers, diverse workshops and quality-entertainment, all designed to inspire and empower its attendees.

Headlining the evening variety show are Geordie comedians Mike Milligan and Steffen Peddie, who you might recognise from BBC2 sitcom Hebburn. Joining them one stage are comedian-cum-poet Kate Fox, singer-songwriter Pete Scott, Fertile Ground Dance, theatre group Backscratch and a host of other performers.

Natalie Bennett (leader of the Green Party), Rehana Azam (Co-organiser of the recent People’s March for the NHS), Beth Farhat (Northern Trades Union Congress Secretary) and top-economists James Meadway and Andrew Fisher will also appear.

The People’s Assembly is a national campaign against cuts and privatisation launched by Tony Benn and other notables in 2013.

Tickets, priced £10 for all-day or £6 for evening (£3 concessions), can be purchased in-person or online at the Northern Stage Box Office.
