Teesdale’s Funny Way To Be Comedy Club has added two new shows to its comedy programme in Barnard Castle.

On Saturday 23 May, Jason Cook hosts a show at The Witham arts centre as part of the 2015 Barnard Castle Meet celebrations.

Jason, creator and star of the BBC Two sitcom Hebburn, introduces former BBC New Comedy Award finalists Brennan Reece and Jonny Pelham, as well as headliner Ivo Graham.

Peter Dixon, of organisers Funny Way To Be Comedy Club, said: “The Barnard Castle Meet Comedy Night on Whit Saturday has become a regular part of our calendar.

“This year we have handpicked four top comic to get us into the festival spirit. Jason Cook is a firm favourite in Barnard Castle and added to rising star Ivo Graham it’s a top quality show for that fun weekend.”

Phoenix Nights star Justin Moorhouse then takes the comedy club into the summer, as he brings the laughs to The Witham on Saturday 27 June.

Justin, who can currently be seen in the Phoenix Nights Live shows in Manchester, will be previewing his new stand-up show Destiny Calling ahead of an extensive national tour in the autumn.

Moorhouse is joined by brooding comedy sketch group Gein’s Family Giftshop as part of a special double-header show in the market town.

Gein’s, who are set to star in the next series of Inside No. 9, will be previewing their follow-up Edinburgh Fringe show, Volume 2.

Peter Dixon added: “Justin Moorhouse sold out his show with us last year so we were thrilled when he asked to come back again in 2015 during a very high profile year for him.

“We always like to vary our programming so for the hotly tipped Gein’s Family Giftshop to form part of the preview double-header night will make it a very special evening.”

Cook, Moorhouse and Gein’s Family Giftshop head to Barnard Castle as part of Funny Way To Be Comedy Club’s blockbuster comedy programme at The Witham.

They joins the likes of Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Alex Edelman, alternative comedy hero Tony Law, Ray Peacock, Ahir Shah and Gary Delaney in the market town over the coming months.
