The fourth edition of BBC Newcastle’s Jesting About is to return next week.

Recorded at the Live Theatre in Newcastle over two nights, the series will air in six parts beginning on Monday 20 June.

Featuring many established comedians alongside virtual newcomers, the show is an eclectic mix of stand up and spoken word, and provides a unique platform for many of the region’s top comedy talents.

The show will air on BBC Newcastle every Monday at 5.30pm for 6 weeks. It will also be available on the iPlayer.

The series features turns from Jason Cook, Fran Garrity, The Mimic Men, Laura Hunter, Lauren Pattison, Rahul Kohli, Gavin Webster, Lee Kyle, Andy Fury, Joby Mageean, Sean Turner, Julian Lee, Neil Harris, Ben Crompton, John Scott, Kier Kyle, Rowan McCabe, John Whale and Anth Young.

Producer Steve Drayton said: “It’s an amazing feat to get four series of anything these days, and the fact that BBC Newcastle continues supports home-grown talent is fantastic.

“Last year’s series was instrumental in BBC Newcastle being voted Station of the Year at the Gillard Radio Awards, reflecting as it does regional talent and identity.

“We recorded two nights at the Live Theatre and have culled these six shows from those recordings. I’m proud to be associated with the talent on show a”nd hope that in some little way our support gives them an extra boost.”
