Chris Ramsey will re-open one of the North East’s leading comedy venues tonight.

The Hebburn star will be the first act to play Barnard Castle’s Witham Hall arts centre following a multi-million pound renovation of the building.

Ramsey, who recently finished filming series two of Hebburn, will preview his new show, The Most Dangerous Man on Saturday Morning Television, ahead of a national tour.

The show is sold out.

Peter Dixon, who runs Funny Way To Be, said that tonight’s show marks beginning of a new exciting chapter for comedy in Barnard Castle.

Dixon said: “This will be the fourth time Chris has been with us, but there is a great deal of excitement in Teesdale about the event.

“It has been great to Chris rise to such national prominence over the last few years. Watching him preview his new show in an intimate surrounding is going to be a very special occasion.”

Ramsey’s show title, The Most Dangerous Man on Saturday Morning Television, makes reference to an incident on Saturday morning football show Soccer AM, when the comedian was ejected from the studio after using offensive language.

Ramsey was booted off the programme after twice using the word “bumming” – despite hosts reminding the comedian it was a pre-watershed show.
