Mark Steel is to perform in Newcastle on Halloween to raise funds for The People’s Assembly.

Steel was scheduled to appear at last month’s launch event of the North East branch of The People’s Assembly alongside North East comedians Kate Fox and Mr Drayton, but was forced to cancel at short notice.

The comedian and satirist, who has appeared on Have I Got News For You, Question Time, and Radio 4’s The News Quiz, has announced that he will perform at the Northern Stage on 31 October in support of the organisation, of which he is a founding member.

The People’s Assembly was established this year to pressure the coalition government to abandon austerity measures, which they say are “unjust, immoral and undemocratic.”

Mark will be supported by stand-up poet Kate Fox and Dead Peasants, a mix of blues, punk and Dylan

Tickets are £10 (£5 concessions).
