Comic John Moloney has won the Outstanding Achievement In Stand-Up prize in this year’s UK Comedy Awards.

Moloney fended off tough competition from Pierre Hollins and Otiz Cannelloni to claim this year’s crown.

Scottish comedians Fred MacAulay and Stu Who finished fourth and fifth.

Praised by Comedy Store founder Don Ward as “one of the most creative and professional comedians I have had the pleasure to work with”, Moloney has been a stand-up for over 30 years.

Moloney has twice won Best Live Performer at The London Comedy Festival, and was nominated as Best Live Stand-Up at The British Comedy Awards.

He also has a number of TV and radio credits to his name, including The John Moloney Show on Radio 4.

Gavin Webster, who organised this year’s award after scooping the 2014 prize, said: “Well done John – richly deserved and you all know he was the one who started these awards where comedians vote for their favourite comedians in the first place.

“Well done to Otiz and to Pierre for pulling in so many votes as well and proving that they’re very much respected and appreciated by their piers.

“Also a mention to fourth and fifth placed Fred McCauley and Stu Who Stewart Henderson for getting a very decent haul.

“You’re both much admired and great comedians and have been an influence to so many.”
