Laughter Live Returns To Sunderland Empire

Sunderland’s monthly comedy showcase Laughter Live continues this week with yet another stellar lineup, headlined by the inimitable Roger Monkhouse. A highly original and sought after performer, Monkhouse’s curious manner and stage-prowling style have become his trademarks. Regularly writing for hit TV shows such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats, and performing throughout the UK – and on various TV standup formats – his wealth of experience has established his act as one of the hottest on the comedy circuit.

Monkhouse will be supported by the razor sharp perspective of Adnan Ahmed; the intense, anecdotal Dave Hadingham; and the Jarrow-based newcomer Lee Kyle.

Ahmed is a laidback performer whose observational wit saw him reach the Semi Final of the prestigious Laughing Horse and So You Think You’re Funny comedy competitions in his first year of performance. Hadingham is a rising star in the UK circuit, with a unique perspective of everday life that is guaranteed to keep audiences hooked right up to the last punchline. Local lad Kyle completes the lineup with his unique prop-based act, providing just one example of the wealth of talent the region has to offer. MC for the night will be Jonathan Elston, one of the most sought after young acts working the circuit today.

Tickets for the next instalment of Sunderland’s premier stand-up night, on Tuesday 11 January, cost just £7.50 and can be booked at the box office in person or by calling 0191 566 1045.
