Sketch group Gein’s Family Giftshop have announced their first UK tour.

Following two sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and acclaimed seasons at London’s Soho Theatre, the award-winning Gein’s Family Giftshop are hitting the road in 2016 for their debut UK tour.

The group, made up of writer-performers Kath Hughes, Edward Easton, James Meehan and writer Kiri Pritchard-Mclean, has been gigging for just over three years having met whilst studying at The University of Salford, quickly bonding over a shared love of black comedies, serial killers and Walton Ford.

Winners of the London Sketchfest 2014 Best New Sketch Act and Audience Choice Award, as well as Chortle Best Newcomer Award 2015, and Noise Festival Curator’s Choice Award Winners, the group were also nominated for the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer and Chortle Best Sketch Act Award.

Their punchy sketches and black comedy style led to a invite to appear in the second series of Inside No. 9, after creators Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton saw their debut show. They also recently gained a commission to write a three-part series for BBC Radio Wales.

More recently Easton and Prichard-Mclean wrote an episode of Crackanory for Dave TV, and the group have written and starred in a Sky TV Christmas comedy short – Gein’s Family Giftshop’s Christmas – which is available now on Sky on Demand and will be show on Sky Arts on Christmas Day.
