Steve Coogan is to present the 2013 Edinburgh Comedy Awards – 21 years after he scooped the prize himself.

Coogan, who is currently topping the UK Box office with Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, will give the winners their awards alongside 2012’s main winner Dr Brown at a lunchtime ceremony at Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh.

He won the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 1992.

The awards, now in their 33rd year, are determined by a panel of judges, who will have seen over 600 eligible shows over the course of the Fringe.

The prize money for best comedy show is £10,000, with £5,000 each for the Best Newcomer and the Panel Prize winner.

Shortlists will be announced on Wednesday 21 August.
