The Burning Duck comedy night returns this month with one of comedy’s rising stars, Bec Hill.

York’s alternative comedy night is back at The Black Swan on Peasholme Green on Tuesday 12 May 2015.

Bec Hill is an Australian stand-up, writer, presenter and actress whose YouTube videos have garnered close to 200,000 views globally, and gained her a cult status in both Australia and the UK. Often incorporating arts and crafts into her stand-up routines, Hill dubs her style “paper-puppetry”.

Support comes from Sam and Tom!, an anarchic double-hander made up of comedic wunderkinds Tom Burgess and Sam Nicoresti. Sam and Tom! are formerly of award-winning sketchers Staple/face, winners of So You Think That’s Funny? 2013.

Also appearing will be Si Beckwith, a Newcastle based-stand-up comedian and writer, with a passion for storytelling, silliness, shenanigans and alliteration, as well as newcomer Dan Triscott. The night’s MC is still to be confirmed.

“I’m really looking forwards to seeing Sam and Tom!”, said promoter Al Greaves, “as I was a massive fan of their previous incarnation as sketch group Staple/Face. I also recently performed at Sam’s night Bedtime, Showtime, Go To Bed Right Now Show in Sheffield which was very silly and lots of fun. Tom also performed as a new character who was so funny I have asked him to do it again!”

“I also did an Edinburgh Fringe show with Si Beckwith in 2013 so it’s always a pleasure to watch him again and see him improving. A particular recent highlight being at last year’s Galtres Festival, where he decided to ditch his material and got the crowd to re-enact the children’s game show Knightmare instead.”

The Burning Duck Comedy Club with Bec Hill, The Black Swan, York, Tuesday 12 May 2015, 8.00pm. Tickets £5, available online, or  £6 on the door.
