John Bishop is to bring his sell-out Supersonic show to Leeds.

The Liverpudlian comic is to play City Varieties Music Hall on 16 March 2015.

The Varieties is one of only two venues to host intimate performances of the show, before Bishop records his tour DVD at the Royal Albert Hall in April.

Bishop is a regular at the City Varieties, and last year performed a work in progress show where he tried out new material for the Supersonic UK Arena tour.

General Manager Ian Sime said: “John Bishop is a regular to our beautiful theatre and we’re thrilled he’s chosen to come back to the City Varieties to perform this sell-out show.”

Tickets for the show go on sale Monday 16 February 2015 at 10am.

Also just confirmed to appear at the Varieties is Irish comic Ed Byrne.

Byrne will bring his new show Outside, Looking In, at the venue on 30 October 2015. In 2006, the Mock the Week regular recorded his live DVD Pedantic and Whimsical at The Varieties.

Outside, Looking In will mark a fourth national tour for Byrne, having previously performed six sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and three sell-out tours of the UK.
