Comedy is one of the most challenging spheres of acting. Also, the active period of a successful comedian is usually very short. You can make people weep, but it is far tougher to make them laugh. Nowadays, female comedians have also marked their presence. Stand up comedians always need to calibrate and tune their content and material before they reach a point where the audience is responsive to them.

Bridget Everett

Bridget Everett is an American female comedian born on April 21st, 1972. She is also an established writer, cabaret performer and actress. She has been performing in New York for more than a decade now. The outstanding female comedian has films, TV shows and live theatre performances to her credit. A few of these include Two Broke Girls, Inside Amy Schumer, Bridget and Neal are F*cking and Adam Is Watching, The Bleep Show w/Whitney Cummings, and much more. Recently, she appeared in Chicago and Montreal’s Just for laughs festivals. Without any doubt, her live performance is worth watching.

Catherine Tate

Catherine is a female stand-up comedian, writer and actress from the UK. She has won several awards for The Catherine Tate Show which was a sketchy comedy series. After that, she played the role of Donna Noble in 2006 for the successful Christmas show Doctor Who. Tate also appeared in some big films like Gulliver’s Travels, Big School, Nan’s Christmas Carol, Nativity 3: Dude, Where’s My Donkey and recently in Billionaire Boy.

Lady Garden

Eleanor Thom established the award-winning sketch group in 2008 known as Lady Garden. Half a dozen stand-up comedians include Eleanor Thom, Camille Ucan, Beattie Edmondson, Hannah Dodd, Jess Knappett, and Rose Johnson. They may look young, but they possess extreme maturity in the field of comedy. The group is also the finalist of Laughing Horse new act competitions and Hackney Empire. All the girls praising and playing naughtily with each other just make the humour happen. So, it all looks very natural, and I think it’s the main motive behind their success. Their fans are crazy in love with the troupe’s live shows.

Nina Conti

Nina Conti is a fabulous and astonishing comedian, actress and ventriloquist. She was born and raised in London, and after completing her Philosophy degree in 1995, she decided to become a part of the comedy scene. As far as Nina’s stand-up comedy career is concerned, she won BBC New Comedy Awards in 2002 and stood 2nd in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year. It shows her credibility and her grip on stand-up comedy.

She has also appeared at ‘The Comedy Store’. Nina got tremendous fame for puppet shows including characters like white-haired Scottish grandmother named Granny.

Chelsea Peretti

Born on February 20th, 1978, Chelsea Peretti is an American female stand-up comedian. She is also a good writer and actress. Chelsea Peretti is best known for her comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Fox where she portrayed Gina Linetti. She has appeared in films like Twisted Fortune in 2007, Guy Talk in 2011, Women Aren’t Funny in 2014 and recently in the film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping in 2016.

She has toured the clubs, theatres and festivals throughout the country. Actually, Chelsea left no medium to connect to her audience from film to stand-up comedy. I’m sure you’ll enjoy her live performance. Currently, she has no upcoming dates, so it’s a bit bad for her fans but I hope she will be back soon.

Kristen Schaal

Kristen Schaal is a female actress, stand-up comedian, voice artist and writer. She got tremendous appraisal and recognition from her roles in Bob’s Burgers, Gravity falls and HBO series Flight of the Conchords. She started her live performance in 2006 from HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. She also won the award for the “Best Alternative Comedian”.

Schaal won several awards as stand-up comedian like ‘Best Female Stand-Up Comedian’ in ECNY Awards in 2007. She was also nominated for an award at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2008.

Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer is a female actress and stand-up comedian. She is best known for her movie ‘Trainwreck’ released in 2015 and the famous show ‘Inside Amy Schumer’. She started her stand-up comedy career in mid-2000. However, she rose to the national appearance by standing 4th at NBC’s Last Comic Standing.

On June 23, 2016, during her performance at Madison Square Garden, she announced her world tour. Amy started her tour from Dublin on 26th August. Through the years, the performer has won several awards like GALECA Dorian Award, Critics’ Choice Movie Award and much more.

Miranda Hart

Miranda Katherine Hart Dyke known as Miranda Hart is a female standup comedian and actress from the UK. After the drama training, she started to write content for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Besides, Miranda started to make relatively small appearances on stage. However, she got true fame after BBC sitcom Miranda, which was a semi-autobiographical series. For this show, she won four British Comedy Awards, RTS Awards, and she was also nominated for BAFTA four times.

Miranda Hart also played the role of Barbara in BBC 1’s Not Going Out. Her next show date is 14th February 2017 at Leicester Square Theatre, London. She will perform with Sarah Millican.

Maria Bamford

Maria Bamford is an American stand-up comedian, actress and voice artist. She is best known for her jokes about anxiety and stress describing her self-deprecating and dysfunctional family comedy. In 2014, she won the American Comedy Award for Best Club Comic. Through the years, she appeared in films like Charlotte’s Web 2: Wilbur’s Great Adventure, The Comedians of Comedy, Hell & Back and TV shows like The Comedians of Comedy, Comic Remix, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and recently in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Margaret Cho

Margaret Moran Cho is an American female standup comedian, actress, writer, fashion designer, singer and songwriter. She is best known for her standup comedy jokes about the political scenario, sexuality, racism and social behaviour. She is also a great advocate for the rights of LGBT and has won an award for her efforts.

She has appeared in the Sex and the City’s 4th series which was presented by the HBO. Besides, she has toured almost all the parts of the world and got tremendous acclaim for her stand-up comedy performances.
