Two of the country’s most lauded burgeoning comics are to perform their brand new shows in a double bill this Teesdale this weekend.

Rhys James and Lloyd Griffith will preview their new Edinburgh shows at The Witham, Barnard Castle on Saturday 21 May 2016.

James began performing in 2009 in student competitions, and made his Edinburgh debut in The Pleasance’s Comedy Reserve in 2010, and again in 2012 in AAA-Stand Up. His debut Edinburgh show Rhys James Prepares was named one of 2013’s top ten free shows by Time Out.

A fast-rising star, James’ unique mixture of smart, mischievous gags and performance poetry have bagged him appearances on the likes of BBC Three’s Sweat the Small Stuff, Seann Walsh’s Late Night Comedy Spectacular, and E4’s Virtually Famous.

Often touted as the funniest man on Twitter, James has also written material for Russell Howard’s Good News, Mock the Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats.

Since debuting his first Edinburgh show in 2014, comic and professional tenor Griffith has been winning rave reviews for his mixture of affable observational comedy, off-the-wall impressions and hilarious misuse of his impressive falsetto singing voice.

He has recently appeared BBC3’s Sweat The Small Stuff, BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Comedy Club, and supported Rob Beckett on his sold out 2013-2014 UK tour.

The double-header show also offers fantastic value; with two great, hour-long sets for just £8, it is considerably than the club’s recent touring shows.

Funny Way To Be promoter Peter Dixon said: “I was very excited when I realised it was possible to bring both Rhys James and Lloyd Griffith to Barnard Castle on the same night.

“Having seen both of them perform at the Edinburgh Fringe on several occasions I’m very much looking forward to having an early look at their brand new shows. Both Rhys and Lloyd are stars of the future and it promises to be a great night of comedy.”
