The alternative comedy legend will close the show at Newcastle's Live Theatre on Sunday 22 February.

Simon Munnery will headline the first Silly Billies at Newcastle’s Live Theatre next month.

Silly Billies promoter Jack Gardner announced the news today, as he confirmed the alternative comedy night’s run at the nearby Cumberland Arms will come to an end in February.

But for fans of the ever-popular Silly Billies, Gardner promises more of the same stupidity at the Live Theatre from Sunday 22 February, but with fancier lights, projections and all-star names alternative names like Munnery.

“The Order of the Silly Billies are delirious that Simon Munnery is going to headline our first night at the Live Theatre,” Gardner told Giggle Beats. “He is a comedy hero and if he isn’t a household name in your house then you should think about moving.”

Bad Bridesmaid star Holly Burn, Ideal’s Ben Crompton, Fernando and John Scott complete the line-up for the first show, with Gardner and Silly Billy Sam compering.

Gardner added: “Fernando, John Scott and Ben Crompton are Silly Billy regulars, and we’re delighted Holly Burn has agreed to join us for the first time. I performed with her at Weirdos in London, she’s originally from Newcastle and is as the French say ‘pure mad craic.'”

Tickets for the show are on sale now, priced £5.
