This year’s Women in Comedy Festival has welcomed Susan Calman on-board as its new patron.

Calman joins Maxine Peake, Isy Suttie and Jo Caulfield as an official supporter of the festival, which returns for its third year in October.

“I’m supporting the Women in Comedy Festival as a performer because there are few better places to perform than in Manchester as part of such a supportive and celebratory festival alongside some of the best comics in the country,” Calman said.

“As a patron I think it’s vital that the festival exists to showcase how diverse female writers and performers are, so that we can finally put to rest the idea that we’re all the same. We’re not. And with such a vast array of comedians showcased in October it’s a privilege to be part of it and to support it.”

The festival will take place across Greater Manchester and the North West from Thursday 15 October until Sunday 25 October, with Calman, Birthday Girls, Sally Anne Haywood, Hayley Ellis, The Short and Girlie Show, Jo Enright, Kerry Leigh and Sophie Willian already confirmed for the ten-day event.

Giggle Beats is the festival’s official media partner.
