The UK Women In Comedy Festival is set to return for a third year as organisers announced new dates for 2015.

The 2015 festival, sponsored by Laughology, will take place across Greater Manchester and the North West from Thursday 15 October until Sunday 25 October, with Susan Calman, Birthday Girls, Sally Anne Haywood, Hayley Ellis, The Short and Girlie Show, Jo Enright, Kerry Leigh and Sophie Willian already confirmed for the ten-day event.

The UK Women in Comedy Festival was set up by Hazel O’Keefe, who runs the all-female comedy chain, Laughing Cows. She says the festival aims to give women in comedy a platform to showcase their talent, and give female comics an opportunity to “get feedback from industry, insiders and professionals.”

She added: “With a strong statement and a mixture of promotional, developmental and showcasing events, the festival will be an opportunity for female comics across the UK to meet, perform, debate, discuss and get feedback from industry, insiders and professionals, all aiming to put an end to circular conversations and blow certain myths out of the water whilst to promoting the best of female comedy.”

Continuing our grass-roots commitment to comedy in the North West of England, Giggle Beats is delighted to be the festival’s official media partners for 2015.

O’Keefe said: “Giggle Beats is a fantastic website for comedy fans in the North West and beyond. The partnership is a match made in heaven.”

Elsewhere, Maxine Peake has been confirmed as a festival patron for 2015, joining Isy Suttie and Jo Caulfield.

On her appointment, Peake commented: “I’m proud to be supporting the UK Women in Comedy Festival as a patron. A festival filled with laughter combined with feminist principles taking place in the North… What’s not to support?”
